The competition guidelines are designed to maximize the number of solutions and to incentivize teams to exceed existing models of learning to achieve global literacy.
Teams will compete in a multi-stage competition that tests for specific criteria:
Who Can Participate?
Registration to participate in the competition is now closed. The competition is void in those countries where prohibited or restricted by law. XPRIZE reserves the right to limit, or restrict upon notice, participation in the competition to any person or entity at any time for any reason. Teams may withdraw as set forth in the Competitor Agreement.
Operating Costs
Teams will be responsible for funding their own development costs of their solution. Costs for the on-site in-country test stage of the competition are included as part of the competition and covered by XPRIZE.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be evaluated during the first-round down-select process based on the following criteria: Learning, Design, and Technology. Judges will also assess the background research and quality of explanation of the design.
Competition Oversight
Advisory Board
An Advisory Board will be formed to assist with the formulation of the technical aspects of the competition. The Advisory Board will be independent of XPRIZE, the Title Sponsor and all teams and team members.
Judging Panel
The Judging Panel will be responsible for evaluating compliance with prize guidelines and rules. It will have the sole and absolute discretion in selecting the prize recipients. Judging Panel decisions are final, binding and are not subject to challenge. XPRIZE shall select highly qualified, independent and impartial individuals as judges and submit them to the competition’s Advisory Board for review and approval.
