As Chief, Research & Development at Cenovus Energy, Subodh Gupta looks after enhancing collaborative research to bring new science and technologies from other areas and industries to improve the sustainability of oil sands production. Previously, among other projects, he lead the development of solvent-based recovery methods in the oil sands, researched ways to model new reservoir processes and explored alternate methods of carbon sequestration.
Subodh has worked in the petroleum and process industries as an engineer for more than 25 years, including nearly 20 years with Cenovus and its predecessor companies. He has been a Society of Petroleum Engineers distinguished lecturer and is a member of the distinguished lecturer Selection Committee. He has been an invited speaker to many conferences, including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Canadian International Petroleum Conference, the Canadian Institute’s Carbon Capture and Storage Conference and the Global Petroleum Conference.
Subodh holds a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Calgary.
